Role Overview

The Sr. Director – Scientific Content leads the development, coordination, and delivery of scientific narratives across cardiometabolic disease areas. This role integrates scientific strategy, storytelling, cross-functional alignment, and content innovation—especially across major global congresses and medical engagement channels.


Primary Responsibilities

1. Communication & Scientific Storytelling

  • Lead strategic development of congress narratives aligned with overall scientific and medical strategy.

  • Drive creation of scientific POV (Point of View) content from Phase 2 onward, ensuring alignment across functions.

  • Manage coordinated roll-out of scientific disclosures at major congresses (ACC, ADA, EASD, ESC, AHA, Obesity Week, ECO).

  • Partner with CMH Strategy & Operations to ensure coherent messaging across all medical/scientific channels.

  • Utilize emerging technologies—including AI-driven content systems—to enhance HCP engagement and narrative impact.


2. Workflow Optimization & Process Excellence

  • Evaluate, redesign, and improve internal workflows to increase efficiency and reduce operational bottlenecks.

  • Establish systems that enhance standardized processes and cross-functional coordination.

  • Deliver measurable productivity gains via scalable process improvements.

  • Define and track success metrics, using data to guide iterative improvements in content strategy.


3. Leadership, Mentoring & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Demonstrate a growth mindset and champion CMH GMA culture commitments.

  • Mentor and coach team members across departments.

  • Build strong partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders (Medical, Development, Marketing, Communications).

  • Simplify complex scientific topics into clear, impactful messages.

  • Conceptualize innovative storytelling formats to increase clarity and engagement.

  • Lead organizational change initiatives with measurable impact.

  • Inspire and align teams around a unified strategic vision.

  • Maintain strong interpersonal communication while balancing diverse internal/external needs.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (4-year)

  • 10+ years experience in:

    • Medical Affairs

    • Development

    • Marketing

    • Communications

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

    • No visa sponsorship or work authorization support provided


Preferred Qualifications

  • Medical communications agency experience

  • Deep scientific understanding of diabetes, obesity, and cardiometabolic diseases

  • Supervisory or team leadership experience

  • Change-management expertise

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and high-complexity deliverables

  • Experience working with executive leadership


Additional Role Information

  • Travel: 10–20% (domestic + international)

  • Schedule: Flexible (evenings, weekends, occasional holidays)

  • Work Model: On-site in Indianapolis or nearby suburbs (no full-time remote option)

Expected salary range: $150,000 – $237,600
