Role Overview

The Associate Director – Territory Operations Manager (AD-TOM) is a senior regional expert supporting Patient Operations and cross-functional project teams in cell therapy. This position sets compliant standards for treatment centers, partners with Regional Operations Directors (RODs) on site strategy, and drives research, reporting, and best practice implementation.

This is a field-based regional role supporting the Western Pacific territory with preference for candidates located in:
Washington, California, Arizona, Texas, Utah, Minnesota, or Wisconsin.

The AD-TOM reports directly to a Regional Operations Director (ROD).


Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Lead major initiatives across clinical and commercial cell therapy programs.

  • Serve as a senior technical leader and SME influencing strategy, governance, and execution at regional and multi-country levels.

  • Support innovation across patient operations, quality, supply chain, and commercialization.

2. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal AZ teams: Program Management, QA, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Compliance, Sales/Marketing.

  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to design patient/product workflows for trials and commercial launches.

3. External Partnerships

  • Build strong partnerships with external stakeholders: PIs, physicians, nursing staff, apheresis teams, and cell therapy labs.

  • Establish and support patient-centered service lines across assigned sites.

  • Deliver high-quality customer service to clinical and operational leaders.

4. Clinical & Operational Oversight

  • Provide clinical and operational guidance from development through post-commercial phases.

  • Lead site activation using risk-based approaches to certification, training, and monitoring.

  • Oversee workflows for raw material collection, product receipt/storage/distribution/infusion, and COI/COC.

5. Compliance & Quality Management

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory/accreditation standards (e.g., FACT).

  • Maintain audit readiness and lead continuous improvement efforts.

  • Handle quality records including Deviations, CAPA, and Change Controls in collaboration with QA and Cell Therapy Hub.

6. Training & Capability Building

  • Design and deliver training to PIs, MDs, nurses, apheresis teams, and cell therapy lab coordinators.

  • Ensure appropriate COI/COC access for trained site personnel.

  • Support capability enhancement across assigned treatment centers.

7. Logistics & Readiness

  • Act as the primary liaison for operational readiness.

  • Work closely with Supply Chain to align logistics with site needs.

  • Manage site logistics and regional account updates with the Cell Therapy Hub.

8. SOP Compliance

  • Address SOP deviations professionally and collaboratively.

  • Provide on-site expertise for resolving operational issues.

9. Travel Requirement

  • Up to 50% travel within the region.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (e.g., Nursing, Physician Assistant) with strong hands-on cell therapy experience.

  • 8+ years progressive experience in cell therapy.

  • Expertise in service line development including infrastructure, resourcing, cost, and quality metrics.

  • Proven ability to meet timelines, budget, and quality standards.

  • Strong knowledge of cell therapy standards, guidelines, and regulations.

  • Experience managing external providers and handling contracts.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific degree (MS/PhD).

  • Broad experience across patient operations, manufacturing interfaces, quality, regulatory, and market access.

  • Project management certifications (PMP, CPHQ).

  • Experience working across academic and Sponsor environments and multiple countries.

  • Early-phase clinical trial experience across diverse therapeutic areas.

  • Salesforce or CRM platform experience.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual Base Pay: $150,000–$225,000

  • Eligible for:
