Job Description

THE POSITION:

The Rare Disease Manager will conduct business and sales with key targeted specialist healthcare providers, educate the market along the entire patient journey, drive client brand adoption, and establish client leadership in the respective disease area. This role is aligned with the direction from commercial leadership and acts in line with all company guidelines, policies, and directives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Our employees are tasked with delivering excellent business results through the efforts of their teams. These results are achieved by:

  • Creating, leading, executing, and regularly updating a strategic territory plan, reflecting on product strategies, market insights, competitor landscape, and customer needs of defined account target groups.
  • Driving disease awareness and supporting patient finding along the entire patient journey, reducing time to diagnosis by mapping and supporting referral pathways from non-expert to expert centers.
  • Developing and executing strategic account plans, covering all critical roles of each account’s ecosystem, to achieve qualitative and quantitative objectives.
  • Collaborating by sharing market intelligence with the in-field team, brand team, and first-line manager to optimize brand strategy and account plans.
  • Leveraging different tools and communication channels, including CRM, dashboards, market data, and omnichannel platforms, to enhance strategic development and tactical execution.
  • Establishing and maintaining exceptional knowledge of customers, the related market, disease state therapeutic approaches, and the broader healthcare space.
  • Supporting activities to obtain consents and opt-ins.
  • Building trusted customer relationships based on ethical and compliant behavior.
  • Effectively communicating the product value proposition, handling objections, and closing sales.
  • Actively participating in and representing clients at scientific congresses.
  • Acting as the ‘voice of the customer’ for the internal team to create value-adding materials and services.

EXPECTATIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Travel: As necessary to work the assigned territory and attend training/meetings.
  • Hours: Full-time position requiring full days in the field.
  • Skills: Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, in-depth scientific knowledge, drug launch experience, excellent selling skills, collaboration in a matrix environment, and adherence to compliance rules.

Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

  • Education: Scientific Bachelor’s Degree required or certified by § 75AMG.
  • Experience: Experience in the rare disease field in-hospital settings, including referral networks. Experience engaging with Centers of Excellence and/or Key Accounts. Drug product launch experience in new territories. Proven entrepreneurial track record and mindset.
  • Licenses/Certificates: Valid driving license.
  • Technology/Equipment: Proficiency in Microsoft applications and CRM systems.
  • Languages: German (native), English (fluent in reading, understanding of scientific data, and internal communication within an international team).
