Location: Remote – US Field-Based


About the Role

The T1D Immunology Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will support Sanofi’s autoimmune Type 1 Diabetes (aT1D) portfolio by engaging with key stakeholders to advance scientific and medical innovation. Reporting to the T1D Immunology Field Medical Director, the MSL is responsible for strategic account planning, medical activities execution, and key opinion leader (KOL) development in the Alabama and Jacksonville territory.

This role is integral to the “one team, common goals, single mission” approach and requires a deep understanding of aT1D stakeholders and their ecosystems to create tailored, impactful solutions.


Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Build and gain approval for account-specific, ecosystem strategic medical plans focused on teplizumab and the aT1D portfolio.

  • Regularly update plans to reflect evolving scientific and business environments.

  • Collaborate with the Field Medical Director to ensure plans align with national Medical Affairs strategic imperatives.

  • Support pre- and peri-launch readiness and plan execution.

2. Stakeholder & KOL Engagement

  • Develop and maintain relationships with KOLs, healthcare professionals (HCPs), and institutions.

  • Expand reach to include primary care providers, promoting awareness of screening, staging, and monitoring early-stage T1D.

  • Facilitate scientific dialogue and peer-to-peer education to drive impactful change in patient care.

3. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with matrix partners (Medical, Public Health, Commercial, Corporate Affairs).

  • Share actionable medical insights to inform strategies, educational programs, and patient support initiatives.

  • Actively contribute during internal cross-functional meetings.

4. Medical Education & Awareness

  • Support and lead educational events within local communities, public health programs, and patient advocacy groups (PAGs).

  • Collaborate with Corporate Affairs on patient-centric events and initiatives.

5. Clinical Trial Support

  • Identify appropriate clinical trial and registry sites and provide ongoing scientific support.

  • Assist with study execution and site engagement throughout clinical development timelines.

6. Data Interpretation & Communication

  • Gain insights into medical needs using real-world data (RWD) to support Sanofi's account planning and field strategies.

  • Deliver clear, balanced, and compliant communication of product benefits, risks, and clinical value.

  • Promote best practices and treatment innovations in the T1D landscape.

7. Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of medical insights, activities, and outcomes in CRM.

  • Adhere to all Sanofi compliance policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards.


Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., MD, PhD, PharmD)
    Specialization in endocrinology, immunology, pharmacy, or medicine preferred.

Experience

  • Experience in a field medical role in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.

  • Focused expertise in autoimmune T1D or relevant therapeutic areas preferred.

  • Prior success as an MSL with measurable stakeholder engagement and impact.

Skills

  • Strong planning and execution abilities in ecosystem medical strategy.

  • Experience supporting clinical trials and real-world evidence generation.

  • Highly effective at collaborating across medical, commercial, and public health functions.

  • Ability to cultivate robust HCP/KOL networks and referral pathways.

  • Strong communication, adaptability, and digital fluency.

  • High learning agility and comfort navigating scientific and operational complexity.

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel up to 75%, including visits to healthcare institutions, external meetings, congresses, and internal trainings.
