Job Overview

The Supervisor – Coding role involves leading coding operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing team performance and driving quality outcomes. This position supports coding accuracy, workflow optimization and stakeholder coordination within a dynamic healthcare environment.
Freshers with relevant medical coding certification and strong academic background are eligible to apply.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical coding, billing requirements and regulatory updates

  • Manage productivity, quality, turnaround time, attendance and other key performance indicators

  • Utilize analytical and logical skills for rapid decision-making and operational turnaround

  • Lead, mentor and manage the performance of assigned project teams

  • Provide functional expertise and represent the coding team in internal stakeholder communications

  • Front-end client interactions and ensure consistent client communication management

  • Review operational reports, performance metrics and ensure required action plans are implemented

  • Evaluate processes and operational procedures to recommend improvements

  • Support internal audit activities and uphold compliance standards

  • Build a positive work environment that encourages creativity, quality and strong team morale

  • Prioritize tasks, resolve daily operational challenges and provide direction to coding staff

  • Collaborate with senior management on planning, implementation and performance evaluations

  • Manage attrition, develop retention strategies and foster employee engagement

  • Prepare annual business plans and operating budgets

  • Handle conflict resolution, guide critical decision-making and support escalations

  • Deliver ongoing performance feedback, conduct coaching sessions and support skill development

  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies, operational directives and work environment requirements


Required Qualifications

  • Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Life Sciences or Allied Health (BHMS, BAMS, BPT, Dental, Pharmacy, Nursing and related fields)

  • Certified medical coder through AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CPC-H, CCS-P or equivalent)

  • Freshers with valid certification are eligible

  • For experienced candidates: 10+ years of coding experience with at least 3+ years in a team leadership role preferred

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology

  • Understanding of healthcare reimbursement methodologies and coding workflows

  • Ability to manage teams, monitor operations, identify training gaps and improve performance

  • Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to deliver one-on-one coaching and support continuous learning

  • Skilled in identifying process gaps, performance issues and improvement opportunities
