Job Summary:
The Sr Clinical Programmer (DM SAS) is responsible for leading clinical programming activities across multiple studies, ensuring database builds, data mappings, edit-checks, listings, and custom reports are delivered with accuracy and compliance. This position provides leadership in SAS programming, system integration, and data validation while mentoring junior programmers and collaborating with global cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, validate, and maintain clinical databases, edit checks, and data listings using SAS, Medidata Rave, Oracle Inform, and related tools.

  • Generate specifications, annotated CRFs, database builds, coding configurations, imports/exports, and study reports.

  • Lead programming activities for 3–10 concurrent studies depending on scope and resources.

  • Provide technical and application support for EDC platforms and SAS programming.

  • Review study budgets, monitor scope vs. deliverables, and manage change orders.

  • Conduct system integration activities, UAT, and application updates.

  • Ensure accuracy of study-level and multi-study programming deliverables through senior review.

  • Attend audits, sponsor meetings, and serve as subject matter expert on programming practices.

  • Mentor, train, and guide junior programmers and data managers.

  • Monitor workflow alerts, errors, and performance issues, providing tier-2 technical support when required.

  • Stay current on industry standards (CDISC, SDTM, ADaM) and evolving programming technologies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Computer Science, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in clinical programming within CRO/pharma industry.

  • Strong proficiency in SAS (Base/Advanced), macro development, listings programming, and study builds.

  • Experience in CDSIC/SDTM data mapping, vendor data mapping, and external data integration.

  • Preferred SAS certifications (Base and Advanced).

  • Familiarity with programming languages such as PL/SQL, C#, or VB a plus.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EDC platforms (Oracle RDC, Rave, Inform).

  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a matrix environment.

  • Experience across diverse therapeutic areas; oncology and vaccines preferred.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% as required.
