Overview:
Elanco is seeking a (Senior) Veterinary Medical Consultant to join its Companion Animal division in Germany. In this role, you'll be the key scientific advisor for both internal and external stakeholders across veterinary and pharmaceutical sectors. This includes supporting Elanco’s sales, marketing, regulatory, and pharmacovigilance teams, while also delivering educational and strategic veterinary expertise to clinics, universities, key opinion leaders, and associations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Scientific Advisory & Support:
    Provide expert veterinary and scientific consulting for internal departments (Sales, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Business Ops) and external partners (veterinarians, veterinary assistants, pharmacists, associations, pet owners).

  • Academic & KOL Engagement:
    Build relationships and collaborate with academic institutions and key opinion leaders in the companion animal field.

  • Clinical Trials & Research:
    Initiate, oversee, evaluate, and publish results from field studies and clinical trials.

  • Training & Presentations:
    Conduct scientific presentations, internal/external training, and workshops on Elanco’s products and services.

  • Conferences & Strategic Projects:
    Participate in national and international congresses and contribute to strategic animal health initiatives.

  • Content & Publications:
    Assist in developing, reviewing, and validating media content and scientific publications.

  • Pharmacovigilance:
    Provide medical assessments for reported adverse events in accordance with Elanco’s protocols.

  • Flexibility:
    Perform responsibilities both remotely and on-site, as required.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Veterinary degree (DVM equivalent) with a license to practice in Germany

  • Doctorate (PhD) preferred; additional qualifications in companion animal health are advantageous

  • Initial experience in small animal clinical practice, diagnostic labs, or relevant industry roles

  • Strong knowledge in pharmacology and veterinary medicine

  • Fluent in German and English (spoken and written)

  • Proficient in MS Office tools

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a talent for simplifying complex topics

  • Goal-oriented, self-motivated, and structured work approach

  • Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills

  • High willingness to travel (up to 60%)

  • Commercial acumen and understanding of business processes
