This role sits within the Medical Products & Therapies (MPT) segment — a $5.2B division of Baxter’s global $10.6B business — encompassing Infusion Therapies, IV Technologies, Nutritional Solutions, and Advanced Surgery.

As the Senior Program Manager, R&D Product Delivery Excellence (PDE), you will lead high-impact process excellence initiatives that drive innovation, consistency, and efficiency across global product development programs.


🎯 Position Summary:

The Senior Program Manager, R&D PDE will lead and advance Baxter’s Product Delivery Excellence (PDE) framework, ensuring robust project governance, process consistency, and continuous improvement across R&D.

This position requires cross-functional leadership through influence, engaging teams from R&D, Operations, Regulatory, Quality, Supply Chain, Marketing, Legal, and Commercial functions.

You will be responsible for developing and executing PDE strategies, driving portfolio management best practices, and mentoring teams to enhance performance and execution excellence.


⚙️ Key Responsibilities:

1. Program Leadership & Governance

  • Lead the PDE framework, including process governance, stage-gate methodology, and portfolio management practices.

  • Drive adoption of standardized tools, templates, and metrics to improve R&D efficiency and predictability.

  • Ensure PDE alignment across MPT and other Baxter segments (HST, Pharma, Connected Care).

2. Process Improvement & Execution

  • Create and deploy continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce development cycle time.

  • Identify process bottlenecks and implement data-driven solutions that deliver measurable results.

  • Lead cross-functional process harmonization initiatives across Baxter’s global R&D network.

3. Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner closely with senior leadership and global teams to ensure alignment on PDE strategies and priorities.

  • Facilitate communication and transparency through program updates, dashboards, and performance reviews.

  • Anticipate potential conflicts and resolve them through collaborative, win–win solutions.

4. Team Development & Mentorship

  • Serve as a coach and mentor to junior project managers and team members.

  • Provide leadership guidance on project execution, resource allocation, and risk management.

  • Champion Baxter’s leadership competencies by modeling accountability, collaboration, and innovation.

5. Strategic Impact

  • Support portfolio optimization by identifying key opportunities for R&D efficiency.

  • Drive process standardization and knowledge sharing across Baxter divisions.

  • Contribute to Baxter’s long-term strategy of building world-class R&D operational excellence.


🧠 Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related technical discipline (required)

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or MBA) preferred

Certifications (Preferred):

  • PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent process improvement certification

Experience:

  • 7–10 years in R&D, product development, or process excellence

  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading programs through influence in cross-functional environments

  • Proven track record of managing end-to-end product development cycles from concept to commercialization

  • Strong understanding of Stage-Gate or similar Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) methodologies

  • Experience in medical devices required; biotech and manufacturing experience preferred

Technical & Professional Skills:

  • Proficient in program management tools, dashboards, and performance metrics

  • Strong analytical, facilitation, and communication skills

  • Expertise in continuous improvement, risk management, and organizational change

  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and lead without direct authority

💰 Compensation:

  • Base Salary Range: $144,000 – $198,000 USD annually

  • Additional: Eligible for discretionary bonus and/or long-term incentive plan

Actual compensation may vary based on location, experience, and skills.
