Role Summary

As a Senior Medical Editor, you will oversee editorial quality across complex medical writing projects. You will lead teams in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and adherence to regulatory standards for a variety of documents. Your role will involve mentoring junior editors and writers, as well as ensuring data integrity and compliance with medical writing standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain familiarity with FDA, EU, and other relevant guidelines to ensure documents meet or exceed regulatory and sponsor requirements.

  • Represent the editorial group in medical writing and cross-departmental project teams.

  • Monitor project timelines and budgets, providing updates to the relevant team members if deliverables are at risk.

  • Mentor and train medical editing staff, providing guidance on data integrity, editing, and editorial standards.

  • Lead complex medical writing projects, ensuring that information is accurately distributed to the editorial team and incorporated into deliverables.

  • Copyedit documents, applying correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and style per AMA or custom guidelines.

  • Perform data integrity reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Contribute to the development of process improvement tools and revisions of internal policies related to editorial work.

  • Manage assigned projects in accordance with medical writing SOPs, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery.

  • Edit documents such as SOPs and business practice documents as part of the Asset Writing team.


Qualifications

Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in life sciences, clinical sciences, English/journalism, or relevant publishing experience.

  • Experience: Significant publishing experience with Adobe Acrobat or other appropriate markup language; familiarity with ISIToolbox preferred.

  • Skills:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

    • Strong attention to detail, including skills in copyediting, data integrity review, and project management.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Familiarity with the AMA style guide is strongly preferred.

    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments with deadlines.

    • Knowledge of FDA and EU requirements, ICH regulations, and ISO standards for regulatory documents.

Desirable

  • Ability to work collaboratively with medical writing teams and project managers.

  • Adaptability to changes in work duties and responsibilities.
