Syneos Health is seeking a highly experienced Senior Medical Director / Psychiatrist to provide advanced medical oversight across global clinical programs. This position plays a central role in ensuring scientific rigor, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and strategic clinical development support for sponsors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide medical oversight as the primary Medical Monitor for assigned clinical studies.

  • Serve as the lead medical contact for sponsors, clinical teams, and global stakeholders.

  • Contribute to protocol development, protocol amendments, and clinical study designs.

  • Support Drug Safety and Pharmacovigilance activities with expert medical input.

  • Deliver therapeutic and protocol-specific training for internal teams and clinical sites.

  • Participate in Study Start-Up, feasibility assessment, and patient identification initiatives.

  • Support development of data collection tools, monitoring strategies, and review plans.

  • Review clinical data, identify emerging trends, and recommend risk mitigation strategies.

  • Provide after-hours medical support for active clinical studies, as required.

  • Ensure adherence to GCP, FDA regulations, ICH guidelines, and organizational SOPs.

  • Lead medical responses for RFPs, RFIs, and Bid Defense Meetings.

  • Contribute to clinical development plans, regulatory submissions, and scientific reports.

  • Engage external experts and represent the organization at scientific/industry meetings.

  • Mentor Medical Directors and staff to strengthen therapeutic expertise and study quality.

  • Perform line management responsibilities as needed.


Experience Required

  • 10–15 years of relevant medical experience, including clinical practice in psychiatry.

  • 5–10 years of experience in clinical research, drug development, or medical monitoring.

  • Experience leading global clinical studies within a CRO, biopharma, or academic environment.

  • Strong knowledge of FDA, ICH, GCP, and worldwide drug development regulations.

  • Prior experience developing protocols, medical monitoring plans, and clinical strategies.

  • Experience presenting at scientific meetings and managing cross-functional teams.


Education & Qualifications

  • MD or DO in Psychiatry (board-certified or board-eligible strongly preferred).

  • Extensive therapeutic knowledge in psychiatry and CNS disorders.

  • Proficiency in clinical data interpretation, safety review, and risk assessment.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Ability to support global clinical studies in a remote working environment.


Compensation

Salary Range:
USD 175,000 – 332,000, based on experience, qualifications, and performance.
