The Opportunity

As Senior Manager, Clinical Research, you will lead scientific activities related to the design, conduct, and reporting of clinical trials for Abbott’s Electrophysiology business.

You will:

  • Develop and execute clinical plans within budget and timelines.

  • Generate clinical evidence to support feasibility, regulatory approval, reimbursement, and commercial adoption of devices.

  • Manage a team of scientists responsible for protocols, reports, publications, and study-level documentation.

  • Collaborate with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), cross-functional teams, regulatory agencies, and study sites.


Key Responsibilities

Team & People Management

  • Identify team resource gaps and recommend solutions.

  • Recruit, train, mentor, and manage staff.

  • Oversee performance management and career development of direct reports.

  • Lead and motivate teams during conflict, uncertainty, and crisis.

Clinical Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute strategy for assigned clinical areas.

  • Review and refine project plans with functional area management.

  • Drive innovation, knowledge sharing, and risk-based decision-making.

  • Manage budgets, vendor contracts, and CRO/medical writer agreements.

Cross-Functional & External Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with Marketing, R&D, Field Operations, Risk Management, Reimbursement, Medical Affairs, Quality, and Regulatory Affairs.

  • Build relationships with global regulatory agencies to secure product approvals.

  • Engage with study investigators, sites, and physician Key Opinion Leaders.

  • Represent Abbott at key Investigator and customer meetings.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to corporate and divisional policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage global projects considering regulatory, legal, financial, commercial, and quality requirements.

  • Provide backup support to the Director when needed.


Qualifications

Required

  • Advanced degree (or equivalent experience) in sciences, medicine, or related field.

  • 5+ years of clinical research experience post-degree.

  • Proven ability to write and design study protocols.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Familiarity with international medical device regulations and quality systems.

  • Ability to travel up to 20%.

  • Prior management experience.

Preferred

  • Experience in the medical device industry.

  • Background in international regulatory submissions.

  • Electrophysiology experience.

  • Experience in a quality system environment.


Compensation

  • Base Pay Range: $111,300 – $222,700 (varies by location).
