🎯 Role Overview

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a trusted scientific expert and strategic field-based partner to healthcare professionals (HCPs), investigators, and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).
This position focuses on Hemophilia and related rare blood disorders across the western U.S. territory.
The MSL supports scientific engagement, evidence generation, and insight collection while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company policies.


⚙️ Main Responsibilities

1. Scientific and Medical Engagement

  • Build and maintain peer-level scientific relationships with KOLs, investigators, and healthcare providers.

  • Conduct scientific exchange to communicate data on Sanofi’s hemophilia portfolio and emerging therapies.

  • Represent Sanofi at medical meetings, symposia, and advisory boards.

  • Support speakers’ training and educational initiatives.

2. Medical Insights & Evidence Generation

  • Identify, collect, and analyze medical insights to guide strategy and future research.

  • Evaluate real-world data and contribute to evidence-generation activities, including investigator-sponsored studies (ISS) and post-marketing surveillance.

  • Support protocol development for observational, pharmacovigilance, and effectiveness studies.

3. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial teams while maintaining non-promotional integrity.

  • Share relevant medical insights and feedback to internal stakeholders to refine strategies.

  • Collaborate on training materials and scientific content following compliance standards.

4. Strategic Territory Management

  • Map, identify, and prioritize stakeholders within the assigned geography.

  • Develop territory-specific medical engagement plans in alignment with the overall Medical Affairs strategy.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of field interactions and ensure timely insight reporting.

5. Compliance & Governance

  • Operate within all regulatory and ethical boundaries for non-promotional medical interactions.

  • Ensure excellence in execution of governance, pharmacovigilance, and risk management processes.

  • Drive Sanofi’s Scientific Engagement Model through compliant, impactful stakeholder communication.


💡 Role Context & Challenges

  • Field-based, remote position with substantial travel (domestic and occasional international).

  • Requires ability to operate independently, manage complex scientific discussions, and handle regulatory-sensitive information.

  • Must effectively balance corporate medical strategy with KOL engagement needs.


🧠 Qualifications

Education

  • Advanced Degree (Required): M.D., Ph.D., Pharm.D., NP, or PA

  • OR Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy + minimum 7 years’ relevant experience

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ prior MSL experience (strongly preferred).

  • Experience in hemophilia or rare blood disorders (preferred).

  • Prior experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry (preferred).

  • Solid understanding of clinical research, patient care, and healthcare systems.

  • Candidate must reside within the territory or be willing to relocate at own expense.
