Registered Nurse – Endoscopy

Position Overview

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Endoscopy team at the Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center. As an RN in Endoscopy, you will play a key role in delivering patient-centered, high-quality care across all stages of the patient lifecycle. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, uphold best clinical practices, and contribute to improved patient outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver professional nursing care to patients from birth through all life stages, following established nursing processes: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, clinical standards, and evidence-based practice guidelines.

  • Coordinate patient care activities and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure delivery of quality care.

  • Demonstrate accountability, clinical competence, and commitment to continuous professional development.

  • Provide safe, effective nursing care in the Endoscopy unit and support adjoining clinical departments when needed.


Required Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Required)

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Preferred)

Experience

  • No prior experience required; new nursing graduates are eligible

  • Nursing experience in a hospital setting (Preferred)

  • For PRN positions: minimum 1 year of hospital experience required

Licensure and Certifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Georgia or NLC/eNLC multistate licensure (Required)

  • BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification (Required)

  • Advanced certifications based on specialty area (see specialty addendum)


Specialty Certification Addendum

Depending on the assigned unit, the following certifications may be required within 180 days of hire:

Cardiac Telemetry

  • ACLS Certification

Critical Care

  • ACLS Certification

Dialysis

  • CDN (Certified Dialysis Nurse) preferred

Emergency Department

  • ACLS and PALS Certification

  • Experienced ED nurses have 6 months to obtain PALS

Infusion/Oncology

  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification (Required upon hire for independent administration)

Pediatrics

  • Identification and reporting of high-risk cases, including abuse, neglect, or safety concerns

  • PALS certification (varies by location)

  • PEARS or PALS required at Piedmont Athens

Surgical Services (PreOp/PACU/Endoscopy/CSU)

  • ACLS required

  • PALS required if pediatric patients are treated

  • BLS required for specific units

Women’s Services

  • Labor and Delivery: ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring within 12 months

  • Mother/Baby, NICU, NAT, Nursery: NRP by the end of orientation period


Experience Requirements (for Global Job Standards)

While new graduates are eligible, the following experience enhances candidate competitiveness:

  • Clinical experience in Endoscopy, Surgical Services, Critical Care, or Emergency Nursing

  • Familiarity with advanced medical technologies and EMR systems

  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-acuity patient populations

  • Strong understanding of perioperative or GI procedures
