The Position:
We are seeking a Real-World Evidence (RWE) Scientist to join our team and drive strategic planning, implementation, and communication of real-world data (RWD) in Roche’s development programs. As a key player in generating evidence for multiple therapeutic areas, you will have a critical role in shaping and influencing evidence generation strategies, leading RWD studies, and ensuring timely execution of RWE projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

  • Shape and influence strategy for complex evidence generation and cross-functional projects.
  • Lead or support evidence generation strategy/plan development as part of the integrated evidence plan for portfolio and pipeline products.
  • Provide epidemiological expertise with a solid understanding of the strategic business context across therapeutic areas.

Implementation:

  • Design, analyze, and interpret RWD studies, ensuring high scientific rigor.
  • Map and license RWD sources, building research collaborations to enhance access to fit-for-purpose data.
  • Implement the RWE plan and execute projects in close collaboration with internal partners.
  • Identify and execute innovative RWE programs to address business needs, support regulatory decisions, payer evaluations, and clinical practices.

Communication:

  • Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to support Roche’s products and programs.
  • Develop and maintain a key opinion leader (KOL) network to ensure appropriate academic support and address evidence needs.
  • Lead the development of innovative partnerships with external stakeholders to co-design and execute impactful study designs addressing pre-identified evidence needs.

Development:

  • Act as a mentor or consultant, providing technical expertise on RWE/epidemiology and leading internal/external trainings.
  • Serve as the franchise/division-level RWE lead to ensure comprehensive understanding of the value of RWE in product value demonstration globally.
  • Maintain process standards across therapeutic areas in compliance with Roche SOPs, China CDE requirements, and GPP guidelines.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education/Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree or above in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, or equivalent.
    • At least 3 years of experience in designing, implementing, and reporting epidemiology/observational studies.
    • Experience as a real-world data scientist/epidemiologist in a multinational pharmaceutical company or clinical research organization. Experience in oncology studies is a plus.
  • Leadership Competencies:

    • Ability to work effectively within a matrix team.
  • Required Job Competencies:

    • Expert knowledge of epidemiology/observational methodologies and their applications.
    • Previous experience as a key RWD scientist or lead epidemiologist.
    • Proficiency in statistical programming (e.g., SAS).
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
    • Project management experience is highly preferred.
    • Strong business acumen and technical proficiency in English.
