Position Summary

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) / Senior MSL – Women’s Health will serve as a trusted scientific advisor to Key External Experts (KEEs) and stakeholders across Nevada, California, and Hawaii. This field-based role is responsible for scientific exchange, medical education, and insight generation, supporting the life cycle of women’s health products and contributing to evidence-based medical strategies.

The MSL will collaborate with internal Medical Affairs teams and cross-functional stakeholders to implement tactical field plans, deliver scientific knowledge, and ensure safe and effective use of Astellas therapies.


Key Responsibilities

Field Medical Leadership

  • Support MSL Team Lead in deploying tactical field plans to engage the medical and scientific community

  • Act as a coach, mentor, and role model for MSL peers

  • Represent Astellas at advisory boards, congresses, and professional forums

Scientific and Clinical Expertise

  • Conduct scientific exchange to communicate product knowledge, disease state updates, and therapeutic insights

  • Stay current on emerging trends in women’s health, disease management, and therapies

  • Deliver medical and scientific learning solutions to internal stakeholders

  • Provide guidance and input for evidence generation activities to inform regional and global medical strategy

Stakeholder Engagement & Insights

  • Identify and evaluate Key External Experts (KEEs) and future stakeholders

  • Collect, analyze, and report actionable medical insights to support product strategy

  • Facilitate peer-to-peer discussions and group interactions with healthcare providers, nurses, and pharmacists

  • Actively engage in scientific education and training programs


Qualifications Required

  • Education: Doctorate in health-related sciences (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP)

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 3–5 years of scientific/medical experience in a research-based pharmaceutical environment

    • At least 2–3 years in Medical Affairs or MSL roles

  • Key competencies:

    • Scientific exchange excellence and medical insight generation

    • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills

    • Learning agility with the ability to synthesize and deliver scientific information

    • Business-fluent English


Work Environment & Travel

  • Field-based position in California or Nevada, with responsibilities including Hawaii travel

  • Travel required for physician engagement, congress attendance, and internal training sessions
