Position Summary

The Medical Lead – Oncology, MA-US is responsible for developing and executing medical and scientific strategies for assigned products within the Therapeutic Area (TA). This includes oversight of regional Medical Affairs activities, strategic planning, evidence generation, and scientific engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

This role requires collaboration across Medical, Clinical, Regulatory, HEOR, Commercial, and other cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with global medical strategies and support for business objectives in the US region.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement robust medical and scientific plans for assigned oncology products

  • Oversee and execute MA-sponsored clinical studies, including HEOR research and investigator-sponsored studies

  • Lead medical advisory boards and provide input for clinical development and product lifecycle strategies

  • Guide cross-functional product teams in aligning medical strategy with business needs

  • Represent MA-US within the Medical Affairs Team (MAT) and ensure execution of global Core Medical Plan (CMP) tactics

Scientific Expertise & Communication

  • Provide medical and scientific expertise for promotional and non-promotional materials, including presentations, dossiers, and educational content

  • Collaborate with MSL teams to translate field insights into regional and global strategies

  • Review investigator-sponsored research proposals and chair committees as applicable

  • Support product labeling and periodic safety reporting in collaboration with Regulatory Affairs and Pharmacovigilance

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of disease states, therapeutic trends, and US healthcare environment

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage external experts, healthcare providers, and key stakeholders to gather insights and inform medical strategy

  • Serve as a trusted scientific advisor within the US region

  • Facilitate alignment and collaboration across multiple functions to achieve business and medical objectives


Required Qualifications

  • Education: MD, DO, or PharmD

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 2 years in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical industry

    • Proven experience collaborating in matrix organizations across Medical, Clinical, Regulatory, HEOR, Epidemiology, Medical Information, and Commercial teams

  • Strong analytical, strategic, and project management skills

  • Expertise in clinical trial design, evaluation, and medical evidence generation

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal, English)

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and engage internal and external stakeholders effectively

  • Approximately 20% travel required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postgraduate specialization in Oncology or relevant therapeutic area

  • Experience with US healthcare systems, policy, and market access dynamics

  • Proven ability to support product launches and lifecycle management


Work Environment

  • Hybrid model combining office-based collaboration and flexible remote work

  • Field travel for congresses, advisory boards, and strategic meetings (~20%)
