Position Summary

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Oncology will serve as a trusted scientific advisor to Key External Experts (KEEs) and stakeholders across Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico. This role is critical for gathering field insights, delivering medical education, and supporting evidence generation to inform product strategy and lifecycle management.

The MSL will collaborate closely with Medical Affairs colleagues and cross-functional teams to implement tactical field plans, ensure scientific excellence, and support safe and effective use of Astellas oncology products.


Key Responsibilities

Field Medical Leadership

  • Support MSL Team Lead in deploying tactical field plans aligned with Medical Affairs strategy and business objectives

  • Serve as a coach, mentor, and role model for MSL peers

  • Represent the company at scientific and medical forums, advisory boards, and professional conferences

Scientific and Clinical Expertise

  • Engage in scientific exchange with healthcare professionals to communicate product knowledge, disease state information, and therapeutic advancements

  • Stay current on oncology trends, emerging therapies, and clinical developments

  • Support medical education initiatives and training programs for internal stakeholders

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with product strategy and evidence generation

Stakeholder Engagement & Insights

  • Identify and evaluate future Key External Experts (KEEs) and medical stakeholders

  • Collect and report actionable medical insights to inform regional and global strategy

  • Facilitate peer-to-peer scientific discussions in one-on-one and group settings

  • Actively contribute to evidence generation and data gap identification


Required Qualifications

  • Education: Doctoral degree in health-related sciences (MD, DO, PharmD, PhD, DNP)

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 3-5 years of scientific/medical experience in a research-based pharmaceutical environment

    • At least 2-3 years in Medical Affairs or MSL roles

  • Proven expertise in scientific exchange, medical insight generation, and stakeholder relationship management

  • Strong analytical, strategic, and learning agility skills

  • Business-fluent in English, with excellent communication and presentation abilities


Work Environment & Travel

  • Field-based position with occasional travel across CO, NV, AZ, UT, and NM

  • Hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with Astellas’ Responsible Flexibility Guidelines
