Scope / Role Summary:

Responsible for executing chemical reactions to synthesize molecules/compounds as per client specifications, using efficient synthetic routes and techniques. Ensure quality, productivity, safety, and data integrity while contributing to team skill development.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Synthesis & Reaction Execution:

  • Understand project requirements and synthetic routes.

  • Review and discuss MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) with the team.

  • Identify and mitigate potential safety risks with supervisor guidance.

  • Plan and execute reactions with proper reagents and equipment, maintaining specified conditions (temperature, pressure, etc.) efficiently with minimal waste.

  • Monitor reaction progress using analytical techniques.

  • Perform appropriate workup and purification to produce compounds of desired quality.

  • Analyze data, interpret results, and document findings.

  • Meet productivity benchmarks for reactions, steps, compounds, quality, and project timelines.

2. Safety & Laboratory Practices:

  • Follow safety and quality systems in the lab.

  • Maintain and properly use equipment/apparatus as per SOPs.

  • Ensure general housekeeping and good laboratory practices.

3. Data Management & IP Confidentiality:

  • Accurately document reactions, observations, and findings in lab notebooks.

  • Maintain strict IP confidentiality and comply with all related policies.

  • Prepare final reports as required.

4. Team Development & Knowledge Enhancement:

  • Improve knowledge in organic/medicinal chemistry and analytical techniques.

  • Participate in discussions, trainings, and educational programs.


Functional / Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Chemistry and synthesis execution.

  • Awareness of laboratory safety protocols.

  • Understanding of data integrity and IP confidentiality.

  • Ability to perform cost-benefit analysis and optimize resource usage.


Educational Qualification:

  • M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry

  • 1 – 5 years of relevant experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research publications in leading scientific journals.
