Job Overview

Syngene International Ltd. is seeking a Senior Research Associate – Biopharmaceutics to support pre-formulation and phase-appropriate formulation development activities for pre-clinical and clinical programs. This role is critical in advancing drug discovery and development through robust scientific evaluation, formulation feasibility studies, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct physicochemical characterization and pre-formulation studies for new chemical entities (NCEs).

  • Utilize and interpret data from analytical instruments used in drug discovery and formulation development.

  • Perform solid-state characterization of drug substances to support formulation decisions.

  • Execute formulation development and feasibility studies for pre-clinical PK, PD, and toxicology studies.

  • Support oral drug product development for clinical studies, including solutions, suspensions, tablets, and capsules.

  • Accurately document, analyze, summarize, and present experimental data.

  • Assist in preparing scientific and technical reports in compliance with internal standards.

  • Use MS Office and basic scientific software/tools effectively for data analysis and reporting.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional internal teams while adhering to organizational and departmental values.

Educational Qualifications

  • M.Pharm or M.S. in Pharmaceutics or Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

Experience Required

  • 3 to 6 years of relevant industry or research experience in pre-formulation, formulation development, or biopharmaceutics within pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO environments.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of physicochemical properties of drug substances.

  • Hands-on experience in pre-formulation and formulation development.

  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry and formulation stability studies.

  • Expertise in solid-state characterization techniques.

  • Proficiency in data interpretation and scientific documentation.

Functional & Behavioral Competencies

  • Strong team collaboration and cross-functional working ability.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced R&D environment.

  • Excellent scientific writing, communication, and presentation skills.

Interfaces & Collaboration

  • Internal: PK/PD, toxicology, medicinal chemistry, and analytical R&D teams.

  • External: Occasional interaction with global discovery and development pharmaceutics clients.
