Location: Fairmont, WV (Remote option available for Cardiology)

As a part of the WVU Health System, the Scribe role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, dynamic, and patient-centered environment, supporting physicians with documentation tasks and improving patient flow.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Document physician or licensed independent practitioner dictation and activities in the medical record.

  • Record history and physical exams provided by the physician or practitioner during patient visits.

  • Transcribe consultations, procedures, and discussions with family or on-call physicians.

  • Gather lab results, radiology results, and medical records for physician review.

  • Ensure data is reviewed and approved by the physician before being added to the medical record.

  • Assist with patient care coordination but do not relay medical orders or give medical advice.

  • Support physician by answering calls, tracking patient data, and communicating non-medical information to patients.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • West Virginia state criminal background check required.

  • Experience with medical terminology and abbreviations.

  • Computer proficiency with ability to learn new applications quickly.

  • Typing speed of 50 WPM preferred.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and maintain a professional demeanor.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • This position requires frequent sitting, typing, and communication.

Work Schedule

  • Part-time, 32 hours per week, with availability on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday afternoons, and Thursdays.

  • This remote position specifically supports the Cardiology department in Fairmont, WV.
