As a part of the WVU Health System, the Scribe role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, dynamic, and patient-centered environment, supporting physicians with documentation tasks and improving patient flow.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Document physician or licensed independent practitioner dictation and activities in the medical record.
Record history and physical exams provided by the physician or practitioner during patient visits.
Transcribe consultations, procedures, and discussions with family or on-call physicians.
Gather lab results, radiology results, and medical records for physician review.
Ensure data is reviewed and approved by the physician before being added to the medical record.
Assist with patient care coordination but do not relay medical orders or give medical advice.
Support physician by answering calls, tracking patient data, and communicating non-medical information to patients.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
West Virginia state criminal background check required.
Experience with medical terminology and abbreviations.
Computer proficiency with ability to learn new applications quickly.
Typing speed of 50 WPM preferred.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and maintain a professional demeanor.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
This position requires frequent sitting, typing, and communication.

Work Schedule
Part-time, 32 hours per week, with availability on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday afternoons, and Thursdays.
This remote position specifically supports the Cardiology department in Fairmont, WV.
