The Diabetes, Obesity, and Complications Therapeutic Area (DOCTA) focuses on discovering biologic, small molecule, and genetic therapeutics to treat diabetes, obesity, and associated complications.


🎯 Role Purpose

The Postdoctoral Researcher will:

  • Support data, tools, and infrastructure for research and development objectives

  • Integrate and analyze genomic, proteomic, metabolomic, and phenotypic data from public biobanks and proprietary datasets

  • Work on cloud-based multi-omics platforms to accelerate discovery of next-generation therapeutics

  • Focus on identifying novel therapeutic targets through statistical genetics, WGS, proteomics, and clinical outcomes analysis

  • Collaborate with the DOCTA Data Science and Computational Biology (DSCB) team, early discovery scientists, clinicians, translational scientists, bioinformaticians, and geneticists


🧠 Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze WGS/WES, proteomics, metabolomics, and clinical data for biomarker discovery

  • Conduct rigorous analyses of large-scale population cohorts and biobank datasets to identify genetic variants and causal genes

  • Develop and implement machine learning and bioinformatics pipelines for multi-omics data integration

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to interpret findings and guide therapeutic development

  • Prepare scientific reports, presentations, and publications

  • Contribute to developing novel statistical methods for high-dimensional biological data


🎓 Qualifications & Requirements

  • PhD in statistical genetics, bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics, or a related quantitative field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in WGS/WES, proteomics, metabolomics, and clinical outcomes research

  • Strong proficiency in statistical modeling, machine learning, and high-dimensional data analysis

  • Experience with large biobank/cohort datasets (e.g., UK Biobank, All of Us, FinnGen)

  • Proficiency in R, Python, and SQL for data analysis

  • Familiarity with GWAS, polygenic risk scores, and genetic association studies

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry

  • Knowledge of functional genomics and multi-omics data integration

  • Strong publication record

  • Prior experience in cardiometabolic research and polygenic risk score models


💰 Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $58,000 – $100,320
