Portfolio Strategy Director – Neuroscience | Cambridge, MA | Novartis
Job Summary
Novartis is seeking a dynamic and experienced Portfolio Strategy Director to join its Biomedical Research division in Cambridge, MA. This hybrid role is a key leadership opportunity in neuroscience portfolio strategy, overseeing critical project planning from preclinical research to clinical execution and product launch. Key Responsibilities
Design and lead portfolio prioritization, resource allocation, and risk management processes.
Provide analytics and strategic portfolio reports to executive committees.
Oversee lifecycle planning, academic partnerships, and early strategic alliances.
Guide early R&D project teams on probability-of-success and portfolio entry decisions.
Develop systems to enhance dynamic and scalable portfolio management.
Monitor and report on portfolio progress; address key risks and alignment gaps.
Make final operational decisions to ensure goal achievement across the organization.
Required Skills & Qualifications
PhD, MD, or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline.
Minimum 5 years of industry experience in biotech/pharma R&D.
Experience in global cross-functional teams and strategic planning.
Proficiency in project and operations management, executive-level communications.
Background in critical negotiations and partnering strategy.
Experience in neurological or neuromuscular disorders is preferred.
Salary & Compensation
Base Salary Range: $185,000 – $344,000 (USD) per year
Includes performance-based cash incentive and potential annual equity awards
Final salary will be based on experience, skills, and internal benchmarking
