Outpatient Coding Auditor – Los Angeles, CA

Job Summary:
UCLA Health is seeking a highly detail-oriented Outpatient Coding Auditor to ensure compliance, accuracy, and quality in outpatient coding and documentation. Based in Los Angeles, this role is central to maintaining data integrity for CPT and APC coding in acute care outpatient services. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct CPT and APC coding audits for outpatient services.

  • Review documentation for accuracy and compliance with Federal and State regulations.

  • Identify and correct coding discrepancies and billing issues.

  • Provide educational support and feedback to coding staff and external departments.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve outpatient coding inquiries.

  • Support policy development and enforcement for outpatient coding practices.

  • Stay current with outpatient coding guidelines, rules, and regulatory updates.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of CPT and APC coding for outpatient services.

  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state healthcare coding regulations.

  • Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS-P) preferred.

  • Proficient in auditing documentation and billing processes.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in outpatient medical coding or auditing.
