Role Overview

The Team Lead – Creative & Graphics Design will lead and manage the design team within Medical Communications and Content Solutions (MCCS). This role involves strategic leadership, creative excellence, project management, operational efficiency, and innovation in medical communication design across therapeutic areas: Internal Medicine, Specialty Care, Vaccines, and Oncology.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Lead and mentor the Creative & Graphics Design team across therapeutic areas.

  • Establish team optimization strategies with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance culture.

  • Manage resources, project assignments, and timelines.

  • Develop strategies for talent acquisition, onboarding, and retention.

  • Train team members on Pfizer deliverables, tools, and new technologies.

  • Build strong relationships with MCCS, Business Operations, and leadership teams.

Strategic Medical Communication Development

  • Drive creation of clear, engaging, and scientifically accurate medical communication materials (posters, infographics, slides, videos, publications, digital assets).

  • Partner with medical writers and experts to translate scientific data into impactful visuals.

  • Align design strategies with therapeutic area objectives.

  • Ensure adherence to Pfizer standards, SOPs, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Project Management

  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously with on-time delivery.

  • Develop project plans covering timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.

  • Monitor progress and resolve issues efficiently.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure compliance with internal/external standards, brand guidelines, and regulations.

  • Identify risks and implement effective solutions.

  • Optimize design processes for efficiency and quality.

  • Track/report KPIs: timelines, budget utilization, productivity.

Innovation & Best Practices

  • Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and technologies in medical communication.

  • Leverage AI, AR/VR, multimedia tools for innovative content creation.

  • Enhance the impact of medical materials through creative design approaches.

  • Drive adoption of new technologies within the team.


Basic Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s in Graphic Design, Digital Visual Arts, Digital Media, Communication Design, or related fields.

  • Experience:

    • 8+ years in graphic design (preferably in healthcare/pharma/medical communication).

    • 5+ years of leadership experience managing creative teams.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, CorelDraw, Figma.

    • Knowledge of web technologies, multimedia production, AI/AR/VR tools.

  • Domain Knowledge:

    • Strong understanding of medical/scientific terminology.

    • Ability to communicate complex science visually.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong stakeholder engagement and influence.

    • Project management with ability to handle multiple priorities.

    • Negotiation and leadership skills for excellence in medical content.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Global/cross-cultural work experience.

  • Expertise in medical channels, strategies, and content creation.

  • Multimedia and omnichannel content development.

  • Quick adoption of new digital tools and platforms.

  • Experience in setting up/working in Pharma Global Capability Centers (GCC).
