Position Overview

The scribe will work directly with a psychiatrist to document patient-provider interactions in real-time and support administrative tasks related to patient care.

Essential Duties:

  1. Patient Documentation:

    • Record details of the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, past medical history, social history, and risk factors (collected directly from the patient).
    • Input physical exam findings, including pertinent positives, negatives, and abnormalities as directed by the provider.
    • Document assessments and plans as directed.
  2. Order Management:

    • Assist with submitting orders and ensure follow-up on results.
    • Process medication requests, refill requests, and obtain prescription overrides or prior authorizations as needed.
  3. Administrative Support:

    • Collect and organize lab results, radiology reports, and medical records.
    • Monitor and manage provider tasks.
  4. Additional Responsibilities:

    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workspace.
    • Participate in equipment maintenance.
    • Perform incidental duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations.
  • Familiarity with the physical exam process and medical documentation.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficient in computer applications and able to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • High-level verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Professional demeanor and respect for patient privacy.
