About the Role:
Optum is seeking a certified and detail-oriented Medical Coding Analyst to join their growing team in Chennai. This role involves reviewing clinical documentation, applying appropriate codes, and ensuring compliance with the latest medical coding guidelines. You'll contribute directly to healthcare efficiency, data integrity, and regulatory compliance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Apply the latest AMA, AHA, and CMS coding guidelines accurately.

  • Review and analyze medical records to assign or modify CPT codes, especially for minor surgical procedures, vaccinations, and lab services.

  • Extract and code HCPCS and screening CPT codes from medical documents.

  • Validate and correct codes using NCCI edits, LCD, and NCD policies.

  • Collaborate within a large team environment to boost overall quality and productivity.

  • Prioritize tasks to ensure coding is completed within client and regulatory timelines.

  • Maintain full confidentiality of patient records in compliance with HIPAA.

  • Adhere to all terms of employment including policies, team changes, shift adjustments, and workplace arrangements as determined by business needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree (any stream).

  • Certified coder through AAPC or AHIMA with valid credentials.

    • Accepted certifications: CPC, CCS, CIC, COC (any one).

  • Fresher to 7+ months of relevant experience in medical coding.

  • Strong grasp of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS guidelines.

  • Solid foundation in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.

  • Understanding of data security protocols and systems handling.
