    Job Purpose:

    The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) - Oncology is a field-based medical professional with deep expertise in oncology, Lilly’s portfolio, competitor compounds, and relevant therapeutic issues. The MSL’s role is to engage with scientific experts, exchange valuable insights, and drive strategic feedback that informs Lilly’s research and commercialization efforts. By fostering scientific exchange between the industry and the scientific community, the MSL has the opportunity to shape the future of healthcare through the dissemination of critical clinical and scientific information.

    This role covers two regions of India: West & South. The successful candidate can be based in Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, or Chennai.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Scientific Knowledge Communication:

    • Engage in continuous learning to maintain and enhance technical expertise within the field of oncology.
    • Provide accurate, up-to-date, unbiased, and peer-credible medical and scientific knowledge to stakeholders.
    • Establish trust as a reliable resource, answering complex scientific questions and proactively engaging with scientific experts.

    Customer Engagement:

    • Build strong relationships with scientific experts through effective, emotionally intelligent communication and support.
    • Deliver high-quality responses to customer queries regarding disease states and product information.
    • Facilitate connections between external experts and internal Lilly teams to foster collaborations, research opportunities, and external partnerships.

    Strategic Vision & Leadership:

    • Synthesize complex data, providing meaningful insights and actionable information to Lilly’s medical and cross-functional teams.
    • Use creative problem-solving to address clinical questions and challenges, leveraging internal resources and expertise.
    • Act independently using a principle-based decision-making approach, escalating issues when necessary, and contributing actively to Lilly India’s medical strategy and planning.

    Territory Ownership:

    • Demonstrate strategic analysis, planning, and prioritization to maximize effectiveness in assigned territory.
    • Take ownership of territory activities, managing multiple priorities and ensuring the execution of a compliant and efficient strategic plan.
    • Ensure all activities comply with local regulations, company policies, and industry standards.

    Key Competencies & Selection Criteria:

    • Required Experience:
      • Previous MSL or field-based experience in oncology, or experience building relationships with Scientific Experts and Key Opinion Leaders.
      • Advanced degree in health sciences (PharmD, MD, PhD) with 2-3 years of relevant clinical or therapeutic experience, or 8+ years of experience for candidates with a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in health sciences.
    • Desired Skills:
      • Strong intellectual curiosity and a passion for oncology and medical science.
      • Ability to comprehend and clearly communicate complex scientific content.
      • Self-directed with the ability to work independently, effectively managing multiple projects and priorities.
      • Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills, and high emotional intelligence for professional relationship building and networking.
      • Advanced presentation and computer skills, with expertise in literature identification and scientific analysis.
      • Excellent strategic and critical thinking abilities to evaluate and interpret scientific data and its future impact.
      • Proficiency in both verbal and written communication skills.
