Position Overview

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) / Field Medical Director is a field-based medical affairs professional responsible for providing scientific, clinical, and therapeutic expertise in support of Organon’s Dermatology programs.

This role serves as a strategic scientific partner to healthcare professionals, medical experts, managed markets stakeholders, and key healthcare decision-makers through evidence-based scientific exchange. The successful candidate will support clinical research initiatives, medical education, scientific communication, and stakeholder engagement while contributing valuable field insights that inform medical strategy.

The ideal candidate is scientifically credible, relationship-focused, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific Engagement & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong long-term collaborative relationships with:
    • Healthcare Professionals (HCPs)
    • Clinical investigators
    • Academic institutions
    • Professional medical organizations
    • Patient advocacy groups
    • Payers / managed care stakeholders
    • Healthcare decision-makers and strategic partners
  • Conduct balanced peer-to-peer scientific dialogue aligned with organizational compliance standards.
  • Deliver accurate, evidence-based clinical and scientific information to support appropriate therapeutic use and product differentiation.

Therapeutic & Scientific Expertise

  • Maintain advanced expertise in:
    • Dermatology
    • Disease state management
    • Scientific literature analysis
    • Therapeutic innovations
    • Emerging clinical evidence
  • Present clinical data, scientific evidence, and therapeutic insights to external medical stakeholders.
  • Respond to unsolicited medical information requests in accordance with company policies and documentation requirements.

Clinical Research & Scientific Collaboration

  • Identify and support opportunities related to:
    • Pre-clinical research
    • Clinical investigator engagement
    • Post-marketing studies
    • Investigator-Initiated Trials (IITs)
  • Collaborate with Clinical Development teams for:
    • Investigator selection
    • Site engagement
    • Relationship management
    • Recruitment and performance support
  • Support scientific communication planning and implementation.

Internal Medical Support

  • Provide scientific education and support for:
    • Commercial teams
    • Medical affairs colleagues
    • Cross-functional internal stakeholders
  • Assist with:
    • Speaker training
    • Advisory board support
    • Medical-to-medical communication materials
    • Scientific strategy execution

Conferences & External Representation

  • Represent the organization at:
    • National medical conferences
    • Regional scientific meetings
    • Dermatology congresses
    • Medical information booth activities
  • Build scientific relationships and collect real-world insights from healthcare professionals to inform internal medical strategy and planning.

Required Qualifications

Education

Candidates must hold one of the following:

  • PharmD
  • PhD
  • MD
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP)
  • Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Equivalent advanced scientific/medical qualification

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in:
    • Clinical practice and/or
    • Pharmaceutical / biotechnology industry

Preferred Experience:

  • Dermatology
  • Allergy / Immunology
