Position Summary

Pfizer is seeking an Area Medical Advisor (Oncology) to serve as a scientific expert and trusted partner to healthcare professionals and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs). The role focuses on advancing medical knowledge, supporting evidence-based clinical practice, generating scientific insights, and driving medical affairs activities aligned with oncology brand strategies.


Key Responsibilities

1. Scientific Engagement & KOL Management

  • Build and maintain knowledge-based relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and scientific experts.

  • Serve as a scientific resource to healthcare professionals and external stakeholders.

  • Develop regional networks to understand:

    • Disease landscapes

    • Research trends

    • Clinical practice guidelines

    • Treatment patterns

  • Enhance Pfizer's scientific reputation through credible medical interactions.


2. Medical Education & Scientific Communication

  • Educate healthcare professionals on approved products, therapies, and medical devices.

  • Respond to scientific and clinical inquiries with accurate, evidence-based information.

  • Ensure appropriate and effective product utilization through scientific exchange.

  • Deliver scientific presentations to diverse medical audiences.


3. Medical Insights Generation

  • Gather insights from KOLs and healthcare professionals regarding:

    • Product utilization

    • Unmet medical needs

    • Emerging treatment trends

    • Research opportunities

  • Communicate insights to internal stakeholders, including:

    • Marketing

    • Sales

    • Clinical Development

    • Medical Affairs teams

  • Support evidence generation and future research planning.


4. Medical Affairs Strategy & Brand Support

  • Implement medical activities aligned with brand and therapy-area strategies.

  • Provide scientific and medical input for:

    • Product lifecycle management

    • Pre-launch activities

    • Product launch planning

  • Ensure medical activities remain compliant with internal policies and regulatory requirements.


5. Scientific Meetings & Professional Education

  • Participate in and support:

    • KOL meetings

    • Advisory boards

    • Customer pre-launch meetings

    • Customer launch meetings (CLMs)

  • Organize and facilitate:

    • Round-table discussions

    • Group scientific meetings

    • Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs

  • Serve as a speaker, moderator, or scientific facilitator for assigned oncology products and therapy areas.


6. Internal Collaboration & Training

  • Collaborate closely with:

    • Marketing teams

    • Sales teams

    • Clinical Research

    • Medical Information

    • Regulatory stakeholders

  • Ensure consistent and scientifically accurate communication across functions.

  • Support sales force capability building through medical and scientific training.


Educational Qualifications

Required Qualifications

One of the following:

  • MBBS

  • MD (Pharmacology)

  • MD (Community Medicine)

  • Postgraduate degree in Medical Sciences

  • Degree in Pharmaceutical Medicine

  • Master's in Public Health (MPH)

  • MBA (with relevant healthcare background)

  • PhD in Allied Life Sciences or Medical Sciences


Experience Requirements

Preferred Experience

  • 1–2 years of experience in Medical Affairs.

  • Prior experience in Oncology is highly preferred.

  • Experience interacting with healthcare professionals and scientific stakeholders.
