Job Overview

This role primarily serves as a Back-up Medical Advisor, though there is potential to act as the Regional Medical Advisor for assigned projects. The individual will provide medical expertise and support to investigative sites and project staff, addressing protocol-related issues such as clarifications, inclusion/exclusion criteria, and patient safety/eligibility concerns.


Essential Functions

  • Medical Support:
    Act as a back-up Medical Advisor and, as required, serve as a Regional Medical Advisor for specific projects. Provide medical assistance to investigative sites and project staff regarding protocol clarifications, inclusion/exclusion determinations, and patient safety/eligibility matters.

  • Protocol & Documentation Review:
    Contribute to the medical review of key study documents such as the protocol, Investigational Drug Brochure (IDB), and Case Report Forms (CRFs). Ensure they are in line with the study objectives and regulations.

  • Training & Education:
    Provide therapeutic area or indication-specific training for clinical project teams. Present at Investigator Meetings and provide relevant medical insights to investigators.

  • Adverse Event (AE) & Serious Adverse Event (SAE) Review:
    Review and clarify trial-related AEs. In collaboration with the Pharmacovigilance team, conduct medical reviews of SAEs, ensuring case documentation and patient narratives are appropriately assessed.

  • Event Analysis & Coding Support:
    Provide support for the Analysis of Similar Events (AOSE) and assist in the medical review of adverse event coding. Collaborate with Pharmacovigilance teams to ensure accurate event documentation.

  • Clinical Study Report (CSR) & Patient Narrative Review:
    Perform medical review of the Clinical Study Report (CSR) and patient narratives, ensuring clinical relevance and accuracy.

  • Meetings & Availability:
    Attend project-related meetings (Kick-Off, weekly team meetings, client meetings) as needed or requested. Be available 24/7 to address urgent protocol-related issues at investigative sites.


Qualifications

  • Education:
    Medical degree from an accredited medical school with a curriculum relevant to general medical education.

  • Specialization:
    Specialty board certification in a relevant area is preferred. Focus on Infectious Diseases is highly desirable.

  • Experience:
    Typically requires 3 - 5 years of relevant clinical experience in general medicine or a related medical specialty. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is acceptable.

  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with fluency in both written and spoken English.
    • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients.
    • Detail-oriented, flexible, and capable of managing multiple assignments.
    • In-depth knowledge of the medical, scientific, and clinical landscape within the relevant therapeutic area.
  • Licensing:
    A current, valid medical license (or equivalent) from the country or region where the individual resides and works.
