Position Summary
The Manager - Technical Services (Formulation Development) is responsible for leading formulation development, new product development (NPD), technology transfer, reformulation initiatives, and operational excellence projects. The role involves managing product development activities, supporting commercial manufacturing operations, driving process improvements, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring successful technology transfer from development to commercial production.
Key Responsibilities
Formulation Development & New Product Development
Plan and execute new product development activities by preparing development plans.
Lead reformulation projects for existing products.
Supervise formulation development activities and ensure project milestones are achieved.
Support product lifecycle management initiatives.
Technology Transfer
Develop and implement technology transfer plans.
Coordinate technology transfer activities for new products across manufacturing sites.
Support scale-up and commercialization activities.
Ensure smooth transfer of processes to manufacturing and third-party facilities.
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement
Plan and execute operational excellence projects.
Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
Support troubleshooting and process optimization for commercial batches.
Manufacturing & Technical Support
Provide technical guidance during commercial manufacturing.
Lead investigations related to process deviations and manufacturing challenges.
Support batch execution and troubleshooting activities.
Ensure equipment availability and coordinate maintenance activities.
Vendor & Material Management
Coordinate with Planning, Warehouse, and Procurement teams for raw materials and packaging materials.
Support vendor qualification and new vendor development activities.
Assist in developing raw material and packaging specifications.
Manage external manufacturing and third-party development support.
Documentation & Compliance
Prepare and review Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs).
Develop Trial Development Records, Product Development Reports, and Technology Transfer Reports.
Support SOP creation, revision, and implementation.
Initiate and manage Change Control procedures for new projects and process improvements.
People Leadership
Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to operators and technical staff.
Conduct department orientation programs for new employees.
Lead and supervise technical teams within the department.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence.
Educational Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) with 7-8 years of relevant pharmaceutical experience.
OR
Master's Degree in Pharmacy (M.Pharm) with relevant formulation development experience preferred.
Experience Required
7-10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience.
Strong experience in Formulation Development and New Product Development (NPD).
Experience in Technology Transfer and Process Scale-Up.
Experience supporting commercial manufacturing operations.
Exposure to Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement projects.
Experience managing technical teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
