Job Overview

The Manager – Scientific Communications is a strategic role within the Global Medical Organization, responsible for developing and delivering high-impact scientific and medical content aligned with designated therapeutic areas, including General Medicine, Inflammation, Oncology, Rare Disease, or Obesity.

This position supports US and global medical strategies by executing tactical scientific communication plans, ensuring scientific accuracy, regulatory compliance, and innovative engagement across multiple stakeholder groups including healthcare professionals, payers, and global medical teams.

The role reports to the Senior Manager, Scientific Communications (Group Lead) and operates within a global, cross-functional matrix environment.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific & Medical Content Development

  • Develop and deliver high-quality scientific and medical materials including:

    • Digital Scientific Exchange (DSE) content

    • Medical Science Liaison (MSL) materials

    • FAQs and Medical Information Letters

    • Digital and multi-channel medical content

  • Draft and manage scientific publications including:

    • Manuscripts

    • Abstracts

    • Posters

    • Oral presentations

    • Enhanced digital congress content

Publications & Scientific Strategy Execution

  • Support execution of comprehensive scientific communication plans aligned with global and US medical strategy

  • Address complex medical information inquiries and escalations

  • Support compendia submissions and payer-facing content development

  • Ensure implementation of ICMJE and Good Publication Practice (GPP) guidelines

Compliance & Regulatory Governance

  • Ensure adherence to enterprise SOPs and external regulatory guidelines

  • Maintain compliance with global publication transparency standards

  • Manage review workflows and approvals through appropriate systems

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Global, US, and Regional Medical teams

  • Collaborate with Scientific Communications Operations for process standardization and optimization

  • Drive innovation in digital, AI-enabled, and omnichannel scientific engagement

  • Track KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives


Required Experience & Qualifications

Education Requirements

One of the following is required:

  • Doctorate degree with 7+ years of relevant experience

  • Master’s degree or MBBS with 10+ years of experience in:

    • Global Publications

    • Medical Communications

    • Medical Information

    • Medical Value & Access

    • Medical Strategy

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of relevant experience

  • Associate’s degree with 15 years of relevant experience

Functional Experience

  • MD, PharmD, PhD, or DO with minimum 5+ years of experience in medical and publications content development

  • Prior experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, or therapeutic area research within the biopharmaceutical industry

  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical commercialization processes

  • Knowledge of regulatory and legal guidelines governing prescription product promotion

  • Experience implementing ICMJE and GPP publication standards

  • Demonstrated ability to critically analyze scientific literature and communicate cross-functionally

  • Experience working in matrixed, global environments with minimal supervision


Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of emerging technologies in scientific communications, including AI tools and digital engagement platforms

  • Experience with omnichannel scientific engagement strategies

  • Strong Microsoft Office and database proficiency

  • Project management expertise with the ability to manage multiple global priorities
