Job Overview

The Manager, Scientific Communications will be a key member of the Scientific Communications organization within Amgen’s Global Medical Organization. This role is responsible for creating and delivering high-quality scientific, publications, and medical content tailored to global audiences across multiple therapeutic areas, including General Medicine, Inflammation, Oncology, Rare Disease, and Obesity.

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Scientific Communications (Group Lead) in India, this role collaborates cross-functionally and globally to execute tactical scientific communication plans that support Amgen’s medical and product strategies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver accurate, innovative scientific and medical content (DSE, digital, MSL materials, FAQs, medical letters) for global audiences through relevant channels

  • Draft high-quality publications for congresses and journals, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentations, and enhanced content

  • Address complex medical information inquiries and escalations

  • Support interactions with payers and compendia submissions through precise content creation

  • Manage workflow approvals and ensure compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations

  • Partner with Scientific Communication Operations teams to standardize processes, optimize systems, and implement innovative, multi-channel approaches

  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for content impact

  • Contribute to executing dynamic, comprehensive scientific communication plans

  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with global teams


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced scientific degree:

    • Doctorate (PhD, MD, PharmD, DO): 7+ years of relevant experience

    • Master’s/MBBS: 10+ years of relevant experience in Global Publications, Medical Communications, Medical Value & Access, or Medical Strategy

    • Bachelor’s: 10 years of relevant experience

    • Associate’s: 15 years of relevant experience

  • Proven experience in medical affairs, publications, or clinical development within biopharmaceuticals

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical commercialization, regulatory, and legal guidelines affecting product promotion

  • Experience implementing publications guidelines and transparency standards (e.g., ICMJE, GPP Guidelines)

  • Strong understanding of disease areas, clinical data interpretation, and scientific literature analysis


Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with emerging technologies in scientific communications (AI tools, omnichannel platforms, digital engagement)

  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and database management

  • Strategic execution in a matrixed global environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively in global virtual teams
