Role Overview:
As a Manager, R&D Projects, you will lead the cost-out / VAVE (Value Analysis & Value Engineering) division team and manage high-impact projects aimed at cost-saving innovations. Your role will require orchestrating multi-functional teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of projects. A focus on building a pipeline for cost-out initiatives and continuous improvement will be central to your responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the VAVE team to deliver $5M in cost savings within the year and develop a $10M+ pipeline for the subsequent year.

  • Apply cost-reduction methodologies including:

    • Product cost analysis

    • Should-cost modeling

    • Costed BOM (Bill of Materials) analysis

    • Site material spend analysis

    • Product teardown and benchmarking

    • VAVE techniques

  • Collaborate with global partners to track progress, address challenges, and escalate when necessary.

  • Provide leadership in project management, design activities, and risk resolution for MCP projects.

  • Work closely with Design managers to build the Design Verification Plan (DVP).

  • Identify process gaps and implement standard work practices using PPI (Practical Process Improvement) systems.

  • Manage the annual operating plan, including resource allocation and project expenses.

  • Establish and maintain a proficiency matrix for the team, ensuring effective resource loading.

  • Mentor and guide team members to foster professional growth and development.

  • Ensure alignment with the company’s ethics, diversity, and inclusion principles, and adhere to the 4-I Values (Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, Involvement).

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering.

  • 10+ years of overall experience, including significant experience in cost-out project execution.

  • 3+ years in managing multi-project teams, handling a portfolio of 50+ projects simultaneously.

  • Proven track record of delivering $5M+ in cost savings throughout career.

  • Experience in developing strategies and detailed plans to meet and exceed goals.

  • Expertise in VAVE methodologies, including executing product VAVE projects.

  • Proficient in gate and technical review processes.

  • Awareness of regulatory requirements and engineering standards.

  • Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, and people leadership skills.

  • Ability to influence collaborators and drive strategic project outcomes.
