Overview

NEXT Oncology is seeking a licensed Investigational Drug Services (IDS) Pharmacy Technician to join our highly skilled and collaborative team at the Fairfax, Virginia clinical research site. This site focuses on Phase I Oncology clinical trials, offering a unique opportunity to work on innovative cancer therapies while maintaining a balanced work-life schedule with standard Monday–Friday daytime hours.

This role combines hands-on pharmacy operations with administrative responsibilities, allowing for continuous professional growth and exposure to a wide range of investigational drug services.

Key Responsibilities

Protocol Compliance & Medication Preparation

  • Enter concomitant medications into EMR and prepare investigational products according to study protocols.

  • Compound IV and oral investigational and conventional agents, including hazardous medications, in compliance with USP <797> and <800>.

  • Ensure accurate inventory management and accountability for investigational products (IP) and conventional drugs using Vestigo and eDOCs.

Administrative & Regulatory Support

  • Assist with audits, monitor visits, SOP development, and provide coverage for team members as needed.

  • Upload and manage protocol documentation and staff credentials in eDOCs and Vestigo.

  • Support compliance with regulatory requirements including GCP, GMP, and oncology research standards.

Education & Training

  • Orient new staff members and maintain required certifications and continuing education.

  • Guide and mentor team members to ensure adherence to study protocols, SOPs, and safety procedures.

Data Management & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate clinical research documentation and ensure all study data is recorded correctly.

  • Monitor subject safety, report adverse events, and maintain compliance with FDA and institutional requirements.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Current Pharmacy Technician License in Virginia (required).

  • IV Certification with a minimum of 1 year of mixing experience (required).

  • Chemotherapy Certification with at least 6 months of compounding experience (required).

  • Strong knowledge of USP <797>, USP <800>, GCP, GMP, and oncology research practices.

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.

  • Minimum 2 years of pharmacy or clinical trial experience preferred, with oncology or investigational drug services experience strongly recommended.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annualized base pay range: $33,000 – $82,600, depending on experience and qualifications.
