About the Role

Pfizer is seeking a Director, Internal Medicine Field Medical (Non-MD) to support scientific engagement and medical strategy within the Migraine therapeutic area. This leadership role is responsible for scientific exchange, external medical stakeholder (EMS) engagement, and strategic field medical operations across the assigned territory.
Preferred candidate locations include Northern California, Oregon, and Western Washington.

The Director will serve as a scientific expert, delivering medical education, supporting clinical research initiatives, gathering scientific insights, and enhancing patient-centered care across diverse healthcare environments.


Key Responsibilities

Field Medical Leadership

  • Develop and execute independent field medical strategies within assigned therapeutic areas and geographies.

  • Deliver approved scientific and therapeutic content to priority EMS segments.

  • Identify and engage key medical experts, healthcare providers, and decision-makers.

  • Lead advisory boards and provide medical input with oversight.

Scientific and Medical Expertise

  • Maintain deep knowledge of disease states, clinical guidelines, real-world evidence, and Pfizer’s medicine portfolio.

  • Respond to unsolicited medical requests with accurate, evidence-based information following Pfizer compliance guidelines.

  • Provide insights to internal teams based on scientific trends, clinical practice changes, and EMS feedback.

Strategic Collaboration

  • Partner with Medical Affairs, Research & Development, Clinical Operations, and Medical Information teams to align field tactics with global medical strategy.

  • Support clinical trial site identification, including engagement of diverse and underrepresented patient populations.

  • Collaborate with Patient Advocacy Groups, external professional associations, and academic institutions where appropriate.

Research and Education Support

  • Support Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR) processes.

  • Review emerging congress data, publications, and guidelines to stay current in the therapeutic landscape.

  • Communicate study design principles, data interpretation, and evidence generation concepts effectively.

Operational and Compliance Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standards of documentation, scientific accuracy, regulatory compliance, and ethical conduct.

  • Manage a large volume of remote scientific engagements and projects with strong prioritization skills.

  • Participate in special projects, cross-functional committees, and leadership initiatives as needed.


Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in health sciences required.

  • Highly Preferred: PharmD, PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree (DNP, DPT, etc.).

Experience

  • PharmD/PhD: Minimum 5 years relevant experience.

  • MBA/MSc: Minimum 7 years relevant experience.

  • BA/BSc: Minimum 8 years relevant experience.

  • Prior Field Medical experience strongly preferred.

Technical and Scientific Expertise

  • Recognized subject matter expertise in relevant therapeutic areas.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage scientific leaders and communicate complex medical information across multiple channels.

  • Strong understanding of study design, methodology, biostatistics, and data interpretation.

Leadership and Soft Skills

  • Proven ability to collaborate across matrixed organizations.

  • Strong decision-making ability, adaptability, and change-leadership capability.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage complex projects in a fast-paced remote environment.

  • High self-awareness, accountability, and strategic problem-solving skills.

Other Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to travel 40–50%, including air travel.

  • Valid U.S. driver's license meeting company safety standards.

  • Must have permanent work authorization in the United States.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Pfizer SOPs, compliance standards, and medical stakeholder engagement regulations.

  • Previous Field Medical or Medical Affairs experience.


Compensation and Benefits

Annual Base Salary Range:
$169,700 – $282,900 (varies by location)

Additional Compensation:

  • Eligible for Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan (20% bonus target).
