Position Purpose:

The Sr. Director, GPS Strategy Leader is responsible for shaping and driving strategic transformation initiatives across the Global Patient Safety (GPS) organization. This role leads a multi-year, enterprise-wide transformation agenda that focuses on innovation, simplification, change management, and operational excellence. The position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Global Patient Safety, acting as a trusted advisor and strategist.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Transformation Leadership

  • Develop and execute the transformation roadmap aligned to Lilly’s organizational strategy.

  • Monitor milestones and adjust roadmaps to ensure alignment and progress.

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration on all GPS transformation initiatives.

2. Change Management & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Apply change management principles to enable adoption and sustainment of initiatives.

  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders.

  • Identify organizational risks and implement mitigation plans.

3. Governance & KPI Tracking

  • Define and manage governance structures for all transformation programs.

  • Collaborate with reporting teams to create KPIs and track ROI.

  • Own the project plan and stage-gate process across GPS transformation workstreams.

4. Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing GPS Strategy and Transformation team.

  • Provide oversight and execution support on select initiatives.

  • Encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the organization.

5. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Generate new ideas to support a sustainable transformation pipeline.

  • Stay informed on external regulatory changes and industry innovations to shape GPS strategy.

  • Partner with cross-functional leaders across Lilly R&D and operations.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field.

  • 7+ years in pharmaceutical, pharmacovigilance, or other regulated industries.

  • 5+ years leading large-scale, enterprise-wide transformations.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD) strongly preferred.

  • Experience in:

    • Organizational change management and strategic planning

    • Leading transformation in GxP-regulated environments

    • Project management (PMP, Agile certification, or Six Sigma preferred)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and leadership abilities


Travel Requirements:

  • Periodic domestic and international travel may be required.


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $151,500 – $222,200

  • Bonus Eligible: Yes (performance-based)
