About the Role

GSK is seeking a strategic and visionary leader to join our Global Safety Evaluation and Risk Management (SERM) team as Executive Medical Director / SERM Head – Oncology. This critical leadership position will drive the clinical safety and pharmacovigilance strategy across our Oncology portfolio, ensuring global patient safety, regulatory compliance, and scientific excellence.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in clinical safety, pharmacovigilance, and oncology drug development, with proven leadership in global safety strategy and team management.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a global team of senior medical and scientific safety professionals.

  • Define and implement the strategic vision for clinical safety and pharmacovigilance in alignment with GSK’s Global Safety business strategy.

  • Oversee benefit-risk management across the Oncology portfolio throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Anticipate, detect, and address safety issues, implementing appropriate risk-reduction strategies.

  • Ensure scientific rigor in safety data evaluation, interpretation, and communication.

  • Represent GSK Global Safety internally, at cross-functional governance meetings, and externally with regulators and industry forums.

  • Drive continuous process improvement, compliance, and readiness for internal audits or regulatory inspections.

  • Lead or contribute to due diligence activities, safety advisory panels, and senior governance committees.


Required Qualifications

  • Medical degree with a clinical specialty qualification.

  • Extensive experience in clinical safety, pharmacovigilance, or drug development in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.

  • Demonstrated expertise in Oncology and/or Hematology therapeutic areas.

  • Proven experience leading global safety strategy and managing high-performing teams.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of regulatory requirements and benefit-risk methodologies.

  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional leadership skills.

  • Experience in matrixed, global organizations.

  • Familiarity with both clinical development and post-marketing safety.


Compensation & Benefits

  • US Base Salary Range: $270,600 – $451,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and market rate)
