Role Overview

ICON is seeking a Clinical Data Science Lead (External Data) to join its growing data science and clinical analytics team in India. This leadership role is critical in driving data science strategy for external clinical data, enabling high-quality analytics, insights, and evidence generation to support clinical trial decision-making.

The successful candidate will lead complex data science initiatives, collaborate across functions, and mentor teams to ensure robust statistical analysis and innovative use of clinical data.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and execution of data science strategies for external clinical trial data.

  • Oversee advanced statistical modeling, analytics, and data integration activities to support clinical development programs.

  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations, Biostatistics, Data Management, and Regulatory teams to define analytical requirements.

  • Drive innovation in data visualization, interpretation, and reporting to deliver actionable insights.

  • Mentor and guide data scientists and analysts, promoting best practices in clinical data analytics.

  • Communicate complex analytical findings to senior stakeholders through clear presentations and written reports.

  • Ensure compliance with clinical research standards, data governance policies, and regulatory expectations.


Education & Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD preferred) in Statistics, Data Science, Biostatistics, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.


Required Experience

  • 7–10+ years of experience in clinical data science, biostatistics, or advanced analytics within clinical research, CRO, or pharmaceutical environments.

  • Proven experience leading data science or analytics projects involving external clinical data sources.

  • Strong hands-on expertise with statistical software, analytical tools, and data visualization platforms.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage and mentor technical teams.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into strategic insights.
