Position Overview

The Director, Clinical Research Scientist (CRS) within the Cardiometabolic Health (CMH) Global Medical Affairs team will support scientific, medical, and strategic initiatives across Lilly’s cardiovascular and cardiometabolic portfolio.

This role plays a key part in Medical Affairs operations, evidence generation, data communication, MLR (Medical, Legal, Regulatory) review, and cross-functional collaboration to advance global medical strategy.


Key Responsibilities

Medical and Scientific Support

  • Contribute to Medical Affairs strategy, brand plans, and implementation of medical tactics.

  • Support Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) review processes for scientific and promotional materials.

  • Provide scientific input for Global Medical Information, Medical Education, and internal training programs.

  • Identify opportunities for secondary or post-hoc analysis of clinical trial data.

  • Contribute to the Integrated Evidence Generation (IEG) process, including protocol insights and evidence planning.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with commercial teams to support medical alignment and review of promotional content.

  • Serve as a scientific partner for brand and medical planning, including medical strategy execution.

Training and Scientific Communication

  • Support Medical Education activities, including content development and tactical execution.

  • Train medical teams and cross-functional colleagues on clinical and scientific data.

  • Contribute to Medical Information materials such as cFAQs and scientific response documents.

Evidence Generation Activities

  • Support Phase 3b/4 clinical studies, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), and other evidence-generation initiatives.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scientific accuracy and alignment with clinical strategies.


Job Requirements (Experience Required)

  • Advanced graduate degree in a medical-related scientific field: PharmD, PhD, MSN (with advanced clinical specialty such as Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner).

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in a relevant scientific or clinical field.

  • Strong preference for cardiovascular disease experience.


Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and negotiation capabilities.

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and foster a collaborative working environment.

  • Demonstrated teamwork, leadership, and strategic thinking skills.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: USD 177,000 – USD 308,000 (dependent on education, experience, and geographic location).
