Role Purpose:

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Associate Director supports Scientific and Clinical Experts (SEs/CEs) in the field by delivering in-depth, accurate, and up-to-date scientific and clinical information in the cardiometabolic health space. This role serves as a key interface between Lilly and the external healthcare community, ensuring evidence-based support that enhances patient care and advances research.


Primary Responsibilities:

Scientific Expertise & Knowledge Sharing:

  • Engage in high-level scientific exchange with SEs and CEs in cardiometabolic health (e.g., diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease).

  • Interpret and share the latest clinical data and scientific developments.

  • Support SEs/CEs by answering complex questions and addressing care gaps.

  • Maintain and demonstrate technical expertise through continuous learning.

Field-Based Expert Engagement:

  • Develop and sustain long-term, peer-to-peer relationships with HCPs and researchers.

  • Serve as a connector between SEs/CEs and internal Lilly teams (e.g., clinical development, medical affairs).

  • Identify opportunities for collaborative research and evidence generation.

Territory Strategy & Field Execution:

  • Analyze data to prioritize key SE/CE engagements within the Indianapolis region.

  • Manage face-to-face and virtual interactions using tools like Veeva CRM, MS Teams, etc.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other Lilly field roles to deliver an integrated experience.

  • Execute a strategic geographic plan aligned with business objectives.

Leadership, Collaboration & Compliance:

  • Share clinical insights internally to shape Lilly’s strategy and research directions.

  • Demonstrate sound judgment, resilience, and agility in a changing environment.

  • Execute all duties with full compliance to regulatory and legal requirements.

  • Be an active and effective team player within MSL and cross-functional teams.


Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in health sciences (PharmD, MD, PhD) with 2–3 years of relevant clinical or medical experience.

  • OR Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in health sciences (e.g., BSN, RPh, PA, NP) with 5+ years of clinical, research, or medical affairs experience in a related therapeutic area.

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Preferred Experience:

  • Demonstrated expertise in diabetes, obesity, or cardiometabolic disease.

  • Strong strategic thinking and data interpretation skills.

  • Advanced scientific presentation and digital communication skills.

  • Familiarity with U.S. health systems, academic research networks, and real-world evidence generation.

  • Experience in a field-based medical affairs or MSL role is highly valued.


Travel Requirements:

  • Field-based role with up to 80% travel (including occasional weekend work).

  • Candidate should reside near Indianapolis and within proximity to a major airport.


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base Salary Range: $145,500 – $213,400
