About the Team

The Clinical Innovation team drives identification, acceleration, and scaling of innovations that improve clinical trial operations and patient outcomes.

  • Includes Digital Biomarker (DBM) team: executes DBM programs that generate health data through digital health technologies (DHTs).

  • DBM Innovation Lab (iLab): newly established to accelerate adoption of DBMs as clinical trial endpoints and maximize successful implementation.


Role Overview

As DBM Innovation Clinical Lead – Signal-Seeking Studies, you will:

  • Design and lead exploratory studies, early data generation, and device evaluations.

  • Advance digital biomarkers as validated clinical trial endpoints.

  • Combine clinical expertise, scientific acumen, and research experience to accelerate development of novel therapies.


Main Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end development of signal-seeking studies.

  • Translate clinical needs into DBM testing strategies.

  • Apply rigorous scientific methods to generate early supportive evidence.

  • Provide scientific leadership and subject matter expertise in DBM development.

  • Establish the DBM Innovation Lab as a high-performing function.

  • Deliver presentations at conferences, regulatory meetings, and to senior leadership.

  • Support evidence-based roadmap development for DBM adoption.


Key Activities

  • Collaborate with clinical and trial operations leaders.

  • Develop project plans, KPIs, and frameworks demonstrating clinical utility.

  • Partner with data scientists and biostatisticians to design robust studies.

  • Draft study protocols aligned with strategic and regulatory needs.

  • Critically evaluate digital health technologies (DHTs) for clinical applicability.

  • Lead execution of studies ensuring scientific rigor and integrity.

  • Conduct user preference studies and integrate patient-reported outcomes.

  • Stay up to date with digital biomarker landscape through literature and conferences.

  • Build thought leadership in digital endpoints through consortia and collaborations.


Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in health sciences.

  • 8–10 years’ experience in life sciences, healthcare, medical devices, or pharma.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for DHTs in clinical development.

  • Proven ability to design and execute scientific research studies.

  • Track record of research outcomes driving decisions.

  • Strong collaboration and influence skills in a matrix organization.

  • Excellent communication (verbal, written, presentation) skills.

  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and collaborative.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with clinical trial operations and protocol development.

  • Product management experience.

  • Agile or continuous improvement experience.

  • MBA or consulting background.
