Role Overview:

Sandoz is investing €100 million in expanding its production facilities, ensuring job creation and global antibiotic supply security.

As a Deputy Shift Leader – Fermentation, you will be involved in the first stage of Penicillin production by cultivating fungi in large fermentation tanks, similar to brewing. This role requires technical expertise to oversee and optimize the fermentation process.

This position is ideal for individuals with experience in agriculture, food production, or technical manufacturing. It is also well-suited for part-time farmers or sports enthusiasts, as the shift schedule allows for flexible free days during the week.

Additionally, this role offers a clear career progression path towards becoming a Plant Master in Fermentation, with a structured development plan and training support.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control fermentation processes to ensure optimal production.
  • Support and deputize for the Shift Leader, promoting Sandoz’s values within the team.
  • Prepare and handle raw materials for the fermentation process.
  • Ensure process documentation and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality standards.
  • Operate advanced process control systems to maintain fermentation efficiency.
  • Conduct inspections, maintenance, and cleaning of production equipment to uphold operational excellence.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

Education & Experience:

  • Ideally, experience in production environments (e.g., agriculture, food industry, technical manufacturing).
  • Preferably, completed apprenticeship in chemical process technology or a related field.
  • Fluent in German (written and spoken).

Work Conditions:

  • Shift model (6/2 system):
    • 04:00 – 12:00
    • 12:00 – 20:00
    • 20:00 – 04:00 (including weekends and public holidays).
  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving responsibilities and new projects.
