Job Purpose

The Deputy Manager – Stores will be responsible for overseeing inventory management, ensuring safe storage and handling of chemicals, optimizing operational efficiency, and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards. The role involves cross-functional coordination, audit handling, and process improvement initiatives to enhance store operations.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence & Inventory Management

  • Monitor material storage, zoning, and issuance processes, ensuring stock updates in SAP.
  • Oversee the handling of lab return chemicals, including label inspection, packaging, seal integrity checks, and compliance verification.
  • Conduct quarterly physical stock verification and reconciliation to maintain stock accuracy and system hygiene.
  • Handle inter-unit stock transfers by coordinating with end users, the CAD team, and the logistics department.
  • Perform chemical sweeping as per SOP, ensuring necessary approvals and SAP updates.
  • Implement new ideas and processes to improve operational efficiency in inventory management.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure safety protocols are followed at all levels of store operations.
  • Conduct regular safety checks in RT and cold storage rooms, ensuring proper temperature control and compliance with safety standards.
  • Perform LHA audits and documentation to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Lead audit handling, walkthroughs, and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) processes.
  • Train store personnel in zoning principles, chemical hazards, and safety protocols in collaboration with EHSS (Environmental Health, Safety, and Security).

Coordination & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) team for engineering support and equipment calibrations.
  • Collaborate with the main store to manage material receipts and acknowledgments.
  • Maintain strong cross-departmental communication to ensure seamless store operations.

Educational Qualification

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline.

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of chemical segregation and storage principles based on GHS (Globally Harmonized System) and TGRS (Technical Guidelines on the Restriction of Substances).
  • Expertise in zoning principles for safe chemical storage and handling.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software for inventory and operational management.
  • Sound understanding of chemical compatibility and appropriate storage requirements.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and team coordination.

Experience Required

  • 15+ years of industry experience in inventory and chemical store management.

Behavioral Skills

  • High scientific capability with a proactive approach to operational improvements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to drive process enhancements.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage teams effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments to ensure smooth store operations.
