Position Description

The Copyeditor in Medical Affairs Quality plays a crucial role in reviewing and copyediting U.S. medical (non-promotional) and promotional materials across various therapeutic areas and brands. The primary responsibility is ensuring that materials adhere to Customer Information Quality (CIQ) and Medical Content Approval (MCA) requirements, along with corresponding process standards. The Copyeditor will also utilize various tools to enhance the speed and efficiency of the review and approval process for these materials.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Copyedit Promotional and Medical (Non-Promotional) Materials:

    • Apply CIQ and MCA requirements during the review process.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Medical, etc.) to review, approve, and manage content.
    • Ensure materials are consistent across related documents.
    • Follow style guides, templates, and checklists during the review.
    • Proofread for language, grammar, style, spelling, and document flow.
    • Verify reference lists for compliance with AMA Manual of Style and brand style.
  • Quality, Speed, Value, and Compliance:

    • Uphold Lilly's internal project management standards.
    • Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner, providing corrective actions to eliminate recurring issues.
    • Work closely with CIQ/MCA Lead and Operations teams to manage and track deviations.
    • Partner with cross-functional teams to facilitate shared learning and identify best practices.
  • Continuous Process Improvement:

    • Identify ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of review processes.
    • Share best practices with teams and drive operational excellence.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience as an editor, copyeditor, or proofreader in medical or promotional content, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry or marketing communications.
  • Familiarity with style guides, including AMA Manual of Style and Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Strong understanding of scientific/medical terminology.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and make decisions within scope of responsibility.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in diverse environments.

Additional Preferences:

  • Familiarity with the US CIQ/MCA framework, tools like Veeva Vault, and project planning software such as Wrike or MS Project.
  • Experience with reviewing and writing Medical Affairs communications deliverables (e.g., slide decks, HCP materials, patient materials).
  • Knowledge and experience in clinical pharmacology or therapeutic areas such as oncology, neuroscience, cardiovascular, immunology, or endocrinology.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in scientific, health, communications, or health-related fields.
