Role Overview

The Content Program Manager supports the Content Program Management Lead in managing Optum Rx’s end-to-end content operating system. This includes coordination across Thought Leadership, Events/Executive Engagement, Digital/Social, and Direct Marketing.

The role focuses on program execution, governance, compliance, and cross-functional coordination to ensure timely, compliant, and high-quality content delivery for the US business.


Key Responsibilities

1. Program Execution & Delivery Management

  • Manage day-to-day execution of content programs across multiple channels.

  • Oversee intake, prioritization, timelines, approvals, and issue tracking.

  • Ensure smooth coordination between content, creative, campaign, and compliance teams.


2. Planning & Governance

  • Run weekly operational ceremonies including:

    • Intake sessions

    • Prioritization meetings

    • Status reviews

  • Maintain:

    • Program plans

    • RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies)

    • Stage-gate checklists

  • Ensure structured governance and workflow discipline.


3. Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Align calendars and capacity across:

    • Thought Leadership

    • Events

    • Digital/Social

    • Direct marketing

  • Ensure timely execution and downstream activation.


4. Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Enforce standards for:

    • Brand compliance

    • Accessibility

    • HIPAA-safe content workflows

  • Ensure proper:

    • Version control

    • Metadata/taxonomy usage

    • Audit trail documentation

  • Coordinate approvals with Legal and Compliance teams.


5. AI-Enabled Content Operations

  • Support AI-driven content workflows including:

    • Brief creation

    • Content outlining

    • Variant generation

    • Quality checks

  • Ensure Responsible AI usage with human oversight and governance.


6. Performance Tracking & Reporting

  • Build dashboards and reports covering:

    • Program predictability

    • Content reuse rates

    • Compliance findings

    • Engagement performance

  • Present updates in monthly/quarterly business reviews.


7. Vendor & Resource Management

  • Coordinate with agencies and creative studios.

  • Manage SLAs, briefs, delivery timelines, and quality metrics.

  • Support budget tracking and resource allocation.


8. Continuous Improvement

  • Track cycle time, defects, and rework rates.

  • Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements.

  • Improve content delivery systems and operational workflows.


Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 10+ years total experience

  • 6–8 years in:

    • Program management OR

    • Project management in marketing/content operations or enterprise PMO

  • Healthcare or regulatory experience preferred


Technical & Process Knowledge

  • Strong experience with:

    • RACI frameworks

    • SLAs and stage-gate processes

    • RAID logs

    • DAM/CMS systems

    • Metadata and taxonomy structures

    • Accessibility standards


Compliance & Governance

  • Experience in:

    • HIPAA-safe workflows

    • Legal and brand compliance processes

    • Audit-ready documentation systems


AI & Digital Operations

  • Exposure to AI-enabled content workflows

  • Understanding of Responsible AI practices:

    • Guardrails

    • Human review

    • Documentation standards


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong stakeholder management

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills

  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability

  • Experience with KPI dashboards and executive reporting

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a matrix environment


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Certifications preferred:

    • PMP (Project Management Professional)

    • Agile / Lean certifications

    • DAM (Digital Asset Management)
