About the Job

The Clinical Documentation Global Head provides strategic leadership and oversight for all clinical documentation functions, ensuring timely and compliant delivery of dossiers for regulatory submissions worldwide (IND, CTA, NDA, BLA, MAA, and variations). This role drives innovation, operational efficiency, inspection readiness, and transparency across global teams while partnering with digital and cross-functional stakeholders.


Main Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute the long-term vision for Clinical Documentation across all domains:

    • Medical Writing

    • Document Management

    • Trial Transparency

    • Translations

    • Record Management

  • Develop document management strategies aligned with Sanofi’s portfolio and global priorities.

  • Ensure flawless execution of deliverables to Health Authorities globally.

Operational Excellence

  • Expedite submission timelines to accelerate regulatory reviews and revenue generation.

  • Apply risk analysis and boundary-pushing strategies to simplify processes and improve quality.

  • Establish and monitor KPIs to measure effectiveness and continuous improvement.

  • Foster collaboration between teams and external stakeholders.

Innovation & Technology

  • Partner with Digital teams to set technology strategy for documentation.

  • Drive adoption of innovations (automation, AI, content re-use) to increase productivity and ROI.

  • Perform market intelligence to identify emerging opportunities and best practices.

Sourcing & Budget Management

  • Implement sustainable sourcing strategies (internal/external hubs, in/out-sourcing).

  • Optimize budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities aligned with business strategy.

  • Ensure operational efficiency and business continuity.

People Leadership

  • Inspire, develop, and manage a globally dispersed team of managers and experts.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and open communication.

  • Partner with People & Culture to evolve organizational skills in line with digital transformation.


Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Strong leadership with ability to work in matrix/global organizations.

  • Entrepreneurial and proactive mindset with creative, solution-oriented thinking.

  • Expertise in strategic planning, cost-performance analysis, and transformation initiatives.

  • Experience with risk management, business continuity, and agile/lean methodologies.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Sanofi’s processes and digital landscape in drug development.

  • Familiarity with innovative content/document management technologies (e.g., AI, content reuse).


Education & Experience

  • PhD/Master’s in a scientific discipline, PharmD, or medical qualification required.

  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in clinical development and/or regulatory affairs.

  • At least 10 years leading international teams, managing budgets, and strategic planning.

  • Proven expertise in:

    • Value strategy development

    • Finance and performance management

    • Governance and third-party management

    • Change management and innovation project implementation
