Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Lead Clinical Data Science Programmer / Clinical Data Engineer to join our diverse team. The role is pivotal in leading the development, deployment, and maintenance of robust data pipelines, ensuring high-quality clinical data delivery across studies. You will leverage advanced data science methodologies, cloud platforms, and statistical programming to support clinical research, decision-making, and regulatory compliance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for clinical data ingestion, transformation, and delivery.

  • Ensure data integrity and quality across heterogeneous sources and study lifecycle activities (start-up, conduct, and close-out).

  • Develop infrastructure for data extraction, transformation, and loading using cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Collaborate with downstream users, including SDTM programmers, statistical programmers, analytics, and clinical data teams, to ensure accurate and timely deliverables.

  • Automate manual processes to enhance efficiency and scalability of data management workflows.

  • Escalate technical or operational issues to Clinical Data Engineer leadership as needed.

  • Implement and maintain version control and CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.


Technical & Functional Expertise

  • Proven experience with ETL/ELT solutions, data warehouses, and data lakes (e.g., Snowflake, Amazon Redshift).

  • Strong programming proficiency in Python, R, RShiny, SQL, and familiarity with NoSQL databases.

  • Hands-on experience with cloud computing platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Knowledge of database concepts, XML, JSON, and API integration.

  • Experience deploying data pipelines and managing large-scale datasets in clinical research.

  • Strong understanding of clinical data standards and regulatory compliance requirements.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or related field.

  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in data programming, clinical data management, or clinical data science roles.

  • Prior experience in a clinical research or pharmaceutical CRO environment is highly preferred.
