Certified Phlebotomy Technician II – Support Services | UCLA Health, Los Angeles

Job Summary:
UCLA Health is seeking a skilled and certified Phlebotomy Technician II to join its Support Services Laboratory in Los Angeles, CA. In this full-time career position, you'll be part of a world-renowned health system delivering pre-analytical and post-analytical lab services, performing phlebotomy across age groups, and ensuring quality and accuracy in sample processing. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform phlebotomy on inpatients and outpatients, including neonatal and pediatric populations

  • Execute EKG procedures in outpatient settings as needed

  • Manage pre-analytical and post-analytical lab duties, including specimen processing

  • Triage lab samples and requests, verifying accuracy and completeness

  • Enter and confirm patient and test information in lab systems

  • Generate and affix accurate labels for specimens

  • Prepare samples for external lab transport

  • Record phlebotomy details, additional tests, or cancelled/rejected samples


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician II (CPT II) certification (California)

  • At least 1–2 years of experience in phlebotomy within a clinical or hospital setting

  • Proficient in sample collection, patient identification protocols, and safety procedures

  • Familiarity with lab software and medical record systems

  • Ability to work varying shifts: Monday–Friday (12:30 pm–9:00 pm or 2:00 pm–10:30 pm) with rotating weekends and holidays

  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
