Role Overview

The Biologist – Contract position supports Abbott’s R&D and quality teams by providing high-quality technical expertise in microbiology, cell biology, and molecular biology. This role involves documentation management, sterilization validation, and supporting process and formulation changes. The ideal candidate combines hands-on laboratory experience with strong documentation skills and knowledge of GMP/GLP practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support on complex microbiology and biological projects.

  • Facilitate documentation changes and maintain policies, SOPs, and technical documentation.

  • Oversee review and updates of documentation supporting methodologies, formulations, and specifications.

  • Perform sterilization validation for new and existing products using appropriate sterilization methods.

  • Support R&D activities related to sterilization validation for product changes and new developments.

  • Maintain compliance with GMP and GLP regulations.

  • Apply molecular and cell biology techniques, including aseptic techniques, cell culture, cell plating, staining, PCR, PAGE, blotting, and electrophoresis.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Master’s degree preferred; Bachelor’s in Microbiology or Biological Sciences required.

  • Experience: Several years of relevant laboratory experience in microbiology or molecular biology.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Hands-on experience in cell and molecular biology assays.

    • Strong documentation and compliance skills.

    • Familiarity with GMP and GLP standards.

  • Behavioral Skills: Detail-oriented, strong organizational abilities, and effective team collaboration.
